D-STAR  and P25 Repeaters Hawaii

D-STAR repeaters can replace an existing coordinated analog repeater on the VHF 20 KHz band plan  under existing coordination standards and 25 KHz for UHF repeaters

Mixed mode capable repeaters such as the Motorola Quantar would then be able to operate in both a digital narrow as well as analog wide depending on which type of radio was used to access the repeater allowing perhaps a digital QSO for those who have the P25 radios as well as support conventional wideband for those who have analog radios.

At this time there is no indication that a change to the 20khz bandplan nor migration of DSTAR to a unique area of the repeater band is necessary
